Boston University, or BU for short, is a private research university located in Boston, which is the capital and the largest city of the US state of Massachusetts, with a population estimated at a number of more than 620 000 inhabitants, during the 2008 census, fact which also makes it the 21st largest city in the country. The athletic teams from BU are known as the Boston University Terriers, who compete in NCAA Division I, in the America East, Hockey East, and Colonial Athletic Association conferences, in various sports including cross country, basketball golf, soccer, swimming and tennis, being perhaps best known for their achievements in men’s ice hockey, considered to be the most successful athletic team on campus, having won five NCAA championships - including the 2009 NCAA title, which was a classic last-minute comeback victory, as well as 29 Beanpot titles.
